The “greenest” holiday cottage in Cumbria
We’ve carried out a Solar PV installation at this stunning traditional farmhouse in Cumbria, helping it to reduce energy costs & it’s carbon footprint.
Roans Farm holiday cottage is a converted farmhouse situated in the village of Maulds Meaburn, just a short distance from Appleby-in-Westmorland. The 4-bedroom farmhouse dates back to 1871 and is perfectly placed to explore the beautiful Eden Valley, having been recently refurbished and offering all the comforts of modern living.
Owner Mr Wardle wanted to take advantage of the adjacent land and the government’s FiT incentive for Solar PV and contacted Barlows (UK) with the view of installing a ground mounted system. Barlows designed a 30KW ground mount system in the grounds of the farm in Maulds Meaburn.
The system consists of 250w polycrystalline panels and quality, German SMA inverters to guarantee optimum performance and high efficiency.
All the energy generated is used at the farm and the holiday cottage making Roan’s Farm true “green champions”. Not only they are self-sufficient, generating their own energy saving thousands of pounds on their annual electricity bills but they also benefit from the tariffs generating income over the next 20 years which they invest back into the farm.Back to case studies Contact us
