Delamere School, one of only three dedicated SEND schools in Trafford, has 80 places for local children. Delamere School in Trafford recently completed a project to rebuild a 20-year-old hydrotherapy pool for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The new hydrotherapy pool would replace the old ones, which were worn out and no longer fit for purpose. The original pool area has been remodelled to create a bigger, more accessible, and spacious changing area. A new level-deck pool replaces the old one, which was 600mm above floor level. Its architecture includes a level threshold and a sleek pool hoist lift that connects the changing rooms to the pool, making direct entry into the water simpler and safer for those with limited mobility. To improve the sensory experience for the children, the new pool includes a relaxing bubble bed, colour changing/mood lighting, an audio system, and picture projection.
Working for Seddon Construction, our work included the mechanical and electrical refurbishment of the existing building along with the full electrical installation to the new build hydrotherapy pool. Including:

- Security Systems
Being able to play a part in a project like this was an absolute pleasure. It was amazing to be given an opportunity to do our bit to improve these vital facilities that benefit the school so much. Enhancing the new space with modern lighting to ensure the area is usable and enables the children to get the very best support. Working through COVID, our team were able to complete this exciting project on time despite the pressures.
